Meet the Abelsky's

Rabbi Isaac Abelsky

Co-director

Rabbi Isaac Abelsky is a Brooklyn native who is always on the lookout for a fix of New York kosher burger. After studying Rabbinics and Jewish philosophy in France, Isaac earned his rabbinical ordination from the Central Chabad Yeshiva in Brooklyn. Isaac developed a passion for building strong, beautiful Jewish communities through his extensive outreach assignments to Japan, Brazil, and throughout Europe.
With his boundless optimism, and an innate curiosity about his fellow human passengers, Isaac firmly believes in the power of warm, personal relationships to spark joy and contagious goodness in communities.
Isaac has deep roots in the centennial state, and had the privilege of watching his extended family from up close as they grew the Jewish communities in Aspen, Vail, and Lonetree respectively. This familiarity attracted him to the upbeat and welcoming personalities of Coloradans, and was an important factor in his family’s choosing Steamboat Springs as their new home to build Jewish life and learning.
You can find Isaac with a near permanent smile across his face, eager for conversation, and slightly apprehensive about learning to ski.

Mrs. Chaya (CD) Abelsky

Co-director

Growing up in a close-knit family that built an intimate, thriving manufacturing company, Chaya learnt from a young age how the individual contributions of talent and hard work to a larger project are essential to success. Blessed with an eye for art and design, she diligently worked to become an accomplished painter, and later discovered a passion for fine art cooking.
After spending three summers in Jewish day camps in Georgia, Chaya was hooked on Jewish education. Chaya is looking forward to dedicating her impeccable instincts for event planning and design, and her love of learning and teaching, to the Jewish community of Steamboat Springs.
With her wry sense of humor and attentive ear, she is Chabad of Steamboat’s voice of reason and gourmet chef, all wrapped into one.

Moshe Abelsky

With an insatiable appetite for his grandmother’s “healthy cookies,” Moshe Abelsky takes after his father’s discerning sweet tooth. His blue eyes and endearing negotiating habits, however, are his mother’s gifts. While he might experience some hardship in leaving behind two doting grandmothers, he is undoubtedly thrilled to be leaving his Brooklyn apartment behind for the breathtaking beauty of Steamboat Springs.
